GIVING THANKS - DVERSE POETS PUB

TREASURES.

I open the cupboard
To discover the treasure chest
Long forgotten
Containing rows & rows of
Photo album
From now and then.

I open one, and am magically
Transported in time to
Another place, another time, another age.

There I am –
The young bride smiling at the future
Here I am –
The first time mom with my new born
There I am –
The sister having fun
Here I am –
The daughter looking up to my dad
There I am –
The friend, laughing mad
Here I am –
The grand-daughter hugging my granny
And again –
The cousin acting cool and goofy.

Oh! I can feel the chill
Of the mist filled mountain
The deafening sounds of
The waterfall
Feel the cold sprays from
The water
Feel the warmth of
The rising sun
Enjoy the serenity of
The starless night…

As I close the last one,
My heart wells up
And brims my eyes
I bow my head…as
Gratitude escapes my lips.

  1. Memory is a way of holding onto the things you love, the things you are, the things you never want to lose. I know that feeling...
