dverse~ Poets Pub.....Say It Again, Sam

Who am I?

I am the daughter mama doted
Daddy’s apple of the eye;
I am the sis the brothers bullied
And also their sweetie pie.
I was the teen filled with fun
Enjoying life of abandon;
I am the love of his life
Now cherished as his wife.
I am the mom of my babies;
Who in themselves are life’s beauties.

I am the morning, bright and warm
I am the pond, pristine and calm.
I am the bird, singing a soulful song
I am the dusk, wrapped in colorful sarong.
I am the raindrop which cools the earth
I am the child filled with mirth.
I am the rainbow, colorful in the sky
I am the wings with which I want to fly.
I am the love that encompass the soul
I am the filly protecting her foal.
I am the rolling stone, stubborn and strong
I am the bell, the chime and the gong.
I am the bud blossoming with fragrance
I am the Peahen with poise and elegance.
I am the teardrop falling from the eye
I am the secret you cannot pry.
I am all this and much more
A woman…..complete to the core!

  3. I love "I am the Peahen with poise and elegance." So often it is the peacock who is pictured that way. LOL. I like the way you worked with repetitions in this poem!

    Hopefully there is nothing in bracket or to be read between the lines!!

  5. This starts very quietly with a lot of common experiences, and then takes off--great job on making each "I am" image unique and forceful. You made the repetition hypnotic, and the cascade of phrases flow smoothly, as well. Enjoyed it much.
